Wat Arun - the most beautiful temple in Bangkok
The building represents the Mount Meru, the centre of the world in Buddhist cosmology.
The temple is located on the Thonburi west side of the Chao Praya River and can be easily accessed by one of the boats that cruise around the river.
The four corners of the Wat contain guardian gods of the four directions.
Beautiful gardens surround the Wat, creating a stunning location for a wander.
You can climb the building of the Wat. The entry fee is 50 Baht. Don't forget to put decent clothes on - no shorts, tank tops etc are allowed.
The climb is very steep, so be careful and hold on tight to the ropes.
But the view from the top is well worth risking your life.
To get to Wat Arun take one of the boats to the Grand Palace Pier and then change to a smaller one, which costs only 3 Baht one way.
