Such a shame that they managed to ruin that place. I was there in 1998 & 1999 and it was peaceful and beautiful. I think there were like three guest houses there at the time, and the people staying in them all seemed really nice. And it was dead cheap: we paid the equivalent of ONE pound for a room for two people in a VERY friendly place.
Oh well. Nothing lasts forever, eh? Overall Laos is still great, though - everyone who's been there seems to love it.
These things happen to wonderful places - unfortunately. First someone writes about some remote, beautiful place, then everyone wants to go there, the locals are turning the area into a money making machine and this leads to a total disaster. Luckily, there are a lot of remote and quiet places to visit.
Haha I love the first video! I think it would be challenge stay there more than one hour ;)
ReplyDeleteSo much worse than Had Rin :)
