A different kind of guest post: hello from Mike and Phoenix from Reno, US

Look at this smile! Isn't it the cutest ever? This is Phoenix. He lives with his owner Mike in Reno, US (a place that looks so interesting and so American). I met Mike and Phoenix through their blog: Past My Curfew. They both have been my pen (email) pals. Mike is one of the most supportive bloggers I have ever met and by publishing this post I hope I can return many favours he has done for me in the recent past. This is just a proof how blogging can be a great way to meet new people...and cute dogs, too!

Mike posts some really funny stories about Phoenix. Sometimes even a small adventure can turn into a great post that always bring a smile on my face.
This one is about one of their road trips they took together. I love the expressions on Phoenix face!

Mike's love for Phoenix is unconditional. I always say that someone who loves animals has a big heart and must be a kind person. That's why I didn't think twice before replying to Mike, when he first contacted me.

If you want to know more about how these two met and how it changed their lives, you can read about it here:

This is the last post and it is one of my favourites. Again, Phoenix face and the captions - priceless!

Mike and Phoenix would like to hear from you - say hello in the comments!

  3. Jo--I also met Mike and Phoenix in the blogosphere. Mike and I have a few things in common: 1) we can't sleep when we're supposed to 2) we are very fond of our dogs and 3) we like to write. It seems that Mike is hanging out with some nice travel bloggers lately ;-). Maybe one day, he and Phoenix will go on a trip (or we might have to visit them in Reno). And now, thanks to Mike, I've found your blog. That's how it's supposed to work!

    1. Thank you for your comment, Suzanne. Your blog looks also interesting. I will give it a read. How wonderful would it be to meet in Reno. Mike should organise a 'fans of Phoenix' meet up of some sort :)

  4. Unlike Suzanne and Mike - I sleep like a log. Maybe they should try owning/operating a B&B, it makes you bone tired! I met Mike because somewhere I came across a post he wrote about living in Reno - or something along those lines. I grew up and graduated from high school in a blink of a town called Gardnerville, which is about an hour south of Reno and I lived in Reno for about 6 months. A little geographic commonality between us. I warmed to his voice and stories instantly and I became a huge fan from day 1. And while I'm not a dog owner, I appreciate a dog with "too much" personality and I think Phoenix qualifies. I've liked your FB page, Jo, and wish you well as you head out in November. I'll be following!

    1. I love those stories, too. The first one I read was about a lovely girl called Sarah and her dog that passed away. It really moved me. Since then I follow Mike's blog.

  6. Before Mike and Phoenix started blogging, I was lucky enough to receive a few of their stories via email, so you could say that I've been a fan of Past My Curfew since before day one!

One thing you might not know is that they spent quite a bit of time building up the courage to start blogging. So, with that kind of leap of faith, you know that what they blog about comes directly from the heart.

    Love the site, Jo!

I'm sure Mike and Phoenix don't even look back now. Blogging is a really great thing!

  7. I met Mike and Phoenix a little over 8 years ago at work. Since then we have become like family. I, like Chris, was lucky enough to be a select few to read his stories before he had his own website to share them with everyone. Chris is 100% correct with his comment especially that his blog coming directly from the heart. MIke is one of the few people who would give you the world and expect nothing in return.
Theres so many stories he has written that havent made it onto the site yet that I cant wait for everyone to read! I also would like to thank you as I know Mike is absolutely stoked that you have taken the time to put him and Phoenix on your website!

  8. Like everyone else, I really enjoy the adventures of Phoenix and Mike. Just like Mike, dogs are my kids, so we share our love for dogs. I currently have two rescued dachshunds that are the best. I will always have a doxie. Mike and Phoenix are the greatest friends. They are always interested in what I am doing, are extremely supportive regardless of the circumstances, and openly share about themselves. They have some really great stories and adventures, and I appreciate that they share them with the rest of us.
